RISONARE Yatsugatake with kids: build the stay around pool time

A Yamanashi stay to shortlist when swimming is the reason for the detour. Check that your booking includes the pool access you want, then keep the rest of the day flexible.
Information checked: 2 October 2026
This guide is based on official published information, not a first-hand hotel stay. Services and booking conditions can change. Check the hotel’s official website for current rates, availability and booking conditions for your dates and every child’s age.
Who we would shortlist it for
CODOMOWA planning suggestion
Our editorial choice among these three when the pool is the main event. Two nights can reduce the pressure to fit swimming and an outdoor activity into the arrival afternoon. One night can still make sense if you choose just one priority and accept the longer rail journey from Shinjuku.

Choose the actual sleeping arrangement
Official information
The hotel lists a room-occupancy range of 1–5 guests and permits bed-sharing through age 6, with the number of bed-sharing children limited to the room-capacity count. This does not establish the sleeping comfort or meal entitlement of your particular party. Check your chosen room type and tell the hotel if a separate bed or cot is essential.

The car-free route starts at Shinjuku
Official information
The official access page gives roughly 120 minutes from Shinjuku to Kobuchisawa by Limited Express Azusa, then about 5 minutes on the free hotel shuttle. The shuttle does not require a reservation, but it runs to a timetable and may be affected by road or weather conditions. Add the journey from your Tokyo hotel and transfer time. If driving in winter, check snow and ice conditions and suitable equipment.

Check Il Mare access before paying
Official information
Il Mare is an all-weather pool with a wave pool and children’s area, listed as open year-round. Pool-pass plans include admission; some other plans require a separate charge. Children aged 12 and under must enter with a guardian aged 18 or over in swimwear, with no more than three children per guardian. Children using diapers need both a swim diaper and swimsuit. Slides have their own limits. Confirm dates and the current rules before booking.

Child meals and a baby-food caution
Official information
YYgrill’s buffet has child bands for ages 4–6 and 7–11; ages 3 and under are listed as free. Reserve a dinner time and check whether meals are part of your room plan. Official pages disagree about supplied baby food at YYgrill: the dining page says to bring your own, while family-service pages describe provision. Ask the hotel before relying on it, and plan suitable food for your child.

Leave room for the weather
CODOMOWA planning suggestion
Use swimming as one anchor and make an outdoor activity optional. Choose activities for the child’s current age and confidence, then check their calendar, height limits, fees and reservation rules individually. Snow experiences belong to their operating season. Standard room times are 15:00–12:00; the pool page allows use before check-in and after check-out, subject to your admission arrangement. Leave time to dry off and reach the shuttle.

Questions before booking
Is the pool free with every room booking?
No. Confirm that your plan includes a pool pass; the official page notes exceptions and separate admission charges.

Is the pool only for older children?
There is a children’s area and a self-paced first-pool programme for ages 3 and under with a guardian. This is not supervised childcare or a swimming lesson.

Can we count on snow activities year-round?
No. Check the dates and conditions of each seasonal programme before choosing travel dates around it.
