RISONARE Atami with kids: a seaside reset after Tokyo

AI editorial illustration of a family beside the sea, inspired by Atami; not a photograph of the hotel.

A Shizuoka resort for families who want the hotel to become the day’s main activity. Start with the train and shuttle connection, then leave space to enjoy the stay.

This guide is based on official published information, not a first-hand hotel stay. Services and booking conditions can change. Check the hotel’s official website for current rates, availability and booking conditions for your dates and every child’s age.

Who we would shortlist it for

CODOMOWA planning suggestion

Our editorial pick for a short coastal break when you want an indoor swim and room to pause between activities. Consider one night if a hotel-focused reset is the goal; choose two if your family dislikes packing again the next morning. It is outside Tokyo, so treat it as an extra destination in the trip.

Rooms and shared beds

Official information

The property lists rooms for 1–6 guests, with every room at least 60 m². Bed-sharing is permitted through age 6, up to the room-capacity count; that arrangement does not include separate bedding or meals. The range is across room types, so enter every guest and check the actual bedding layout before choosing a room.

Arriving without a car

Official information

The hotel’s access guide gives Tokyo Station–Atami Station as about 35 minutes by Hikari or 50 by Kodama, followed by a roughly 15-minute free shuttle. These are separate travel legs, not a door-to-door estimate. Register for the inbound shuttle at the station Guest Desk on the day, at least 20 minutes before departure; book the return after hotel check-in. Check the latest timetable and allow for full buses and traffic.

Make indoor play the flexible anchor

Official information

The year-round indoor pool is for staying guests and has an infant section. Children still in diapers need a swim diaper with a swimsuit over it; preschool children need an adult guardian. There is also an indoor kids room. Northern Wall Climbing is a separate activity for ages 4 and up and participants weighing 15–150 kg, with same-day, first-come reservations on the board in front of the wall. Check current operating dates and each activity’s own conditions rather than assuming the same age rule applies everywhere.

Separate the room price from meals

Official information

MOGMOG’s buffet lists separate child bands for ages 4–6 and 7–11, with ages 3 and under free for that buffet. Dinner requires a reservation. A child sharing your bed does not automatically receive a meal-inclusive booking. Confirm the selected plan, dinner time, dietary requirements and any baby food you need with the hotel.

A one- or two-night plan

CODOMOWA planning suggestion

For one night, choose either a pool session or one booked activity on arrival, then protect dinner and bedtime. With two nights, leave the middle day largely uncommitted and add town sightseeing only if the family wants it. Standard room access is 15:00–12:00; confirm any use of facilities outside those room times. Avoid a tight flight or another fixed booking immediately after the return shuttle.

Questions before booking

Do we need a rental car?

A train-and-shuttle stay is possible. Check the shuttle registration steps before finalising your rail journey.

Can a family of six book any room?

No. Six is the property’s maximum listed room capacity, not every room’s capacity. Check your actual room and child arrangement.

Is everything included in a stay?

Do not assume an all-inclusive stay. Review meals, paid activities, taxes and cancellation terms for your chosen plan.
