Check notices before leaving

The official site announced a temporary closure on 21 September 2026 because of an approaching typhoon. This is a dated notice, not a claim that the zoo remains closed on later dates. Check the official homepage for your visit day. It also lists construction-related exhibit changes extending into January 2027. Do not build the whole day around an animal without checking its current display notice.

Tickets and normal hours

The usual schedule is 9:30–17:00, with entry ending one hour before closing. Monday is normally closed, with holiday exceptions; the year-end closure is 29 December–1 January. Standard admission is ¥600 for adults, ¥300 for visitors aged 65 or over and ¥200 for junior-high students. Children through sixth grade enter free. Different conditions apply to Tokyo junior-high students. See the official calendar and admission categories before buying.

With a stroller or younger child

The zoo lists stroller rentals at ¥500 per day, cash only, for children aged seven months to four years, up to 18 kg. Rental locations and operating days differ. Baby-care facilities and changing tables are mapped by the zoo; do not assume every restroom has the same equipment. Use the infant-care page and its stroller map to plan your stops.

Choose an entrance

The zoo has East and West Gardens. The official access page estimates five minutes from JR Ueno’s Park Exit to the Main Gate; other gates suit different stations and exhibits. This estimate is not a verified step-free route. Compare the entrance map with your arrival station.

Our planning suggestion
