Start with a choice, not a timetable

This is an editorial planning suggestion, not a timed route tested on the ground. Ask your family what would make the day worthwhile: a few animal exhibits, a museum theme, or a reserved ComPaSS session. One clear priority leaves room for queues, meals and an early return.

Option A: the zoo is the main activity

Use our Ueno Zoo guide to check current notices and choose a gate. The zoo’s official access page explains which entrances suit different stations. Choose a small group of exhibits, take a break, then decide whether to continue. Do not treat the museum as a compulsory second stop.

Option B: the museum is the main activity

Use our science museum guide to separate permanent exhibitions from ComPaSS. Check the official admission page and reserve the family activity separately if that is your main reason for visiting. Leave a gap around the session instead of scheduling arrival at the last minute.

Put the break before the extra stop

After the main visit, eat or rest before deciding on more sightseeing. Choose your meal stop according to your family’s dietary needs and that day’s availability; this guide does not verify individual restaurants. If everyone still wants to explore, a short walk can be the optional finish. If not, returning to your accommodation is a complete plan.

When to change the plan

Check operating notices on the morning of your visit. An indoor attraction is not a reason to travel during severe weather or transport disruption. The zoo published a closure notice for 21 September 2026; later visitors must check the latest update rather than infer reopening from this guide.

Before you leave

Confirm opening arrangements, your chosen entrance, any separate reservation and a route back to your accommodation. Station exits differ; a short walking estimate does not establish step-free access. Keep the return journey simple enough to manage if your child is tired.
