Asakusa and Skytree with kids: a flexible one-day plan

Before the day: choose your afternoon priority

The two attractions are separate. We suggest avoiding two paid timed entries unless your family specifically wants both and you have generous room between them.

Morning: a short Senso-ji visit

Allow roughly 45–90 minutes for the gate, temple approach and pauses. This is our planning estimate, not an official tour duration. Use the Senso-ji family guide to prepare children for a working place of worship.

Keep shopping optional. If the approach feels crowded, slow down, use a less congested route where permitted, or finish the visit early. Do not sacrifice a calm morning to follow an exact schedule.

Midday: eat before adding another task

Leave an open meal break rather than promising a specific restaurant without checking it. Our suggestion is to choose somewhere that fits your party size and food needs, and to use the break to decide whether the afternoon still feels sensible.

A child who needs a nap or a quieter setting may enjoy returning to the accommodation more than another ticketed attraction.

Transfer: allow more than the train ride

The official Skytree access guide lists the Tobu Skytree Line to TOKYO SKYTREE Station and routes to Oshiage. Use its current transport map to choose your connection from Asakusa.

Do not budget only the short time on the train. Walking to the correct operator’s entrance, finding elevators, waiting and reaching the attraction all add time. With a stroller, use our route-planning guide. This itinerary does not claim a fully checked step-free transfer.

Afternoon: one main attraction

Aquarium version: leave time to pause and revisit a favorite display. Finish when your children have had enough, even if that means leaving a few exhibits for another day.

Tower version: check visibility and operational notices before travelling. Keep the return journey flexible in case queues take longer than expected. A poor-weather day may justify changing the plan.

A shorter version is always available

Asakusa plus lunch can be the whole outing. Skytree Town alone can also be a full family plan. The purpose of this itinerary is to help you make a manageable choice, not to require both areas in one day.
